Second Place Boston Food Truck: Dining Car

FA Rating: FF
Price: $

The Dining Car comes in under my current first place tie of Staff Meal and Go Fish.

I've gotten to eat from this truck twice, and both times have been scrumptious occasions that didn't even make me regret breaking my diet plans for the day.

Thai Chile Chili: Ground Pork Simmered with Red Chiles, Ginger, Lemongrass and Coconut Milk, Served with Toasted Peanuts and Shrimp Chips - Only $5!

Shrimp Chips

The chile chili was nice and spicy, the shrimp chips were awesome, light and crisp and flavorful without being oily or powder-covered like some bags I've had from Asian markets.

Crispy Cauliflower with Curry Aioli (Vegetarian and Gluten-Free, Lightly Fried) - $4

The cauliflower was awesome!  I wonder what gluten free batter they used, but whatever it was worked. The curry aioli was obviously delicious.  Because I used Level Up for the first time with them, I got a $1 off!

Remember to play with your food!

Menu from March 20, 2012

Lamb Chili Simmered with Ancho Pepper and Black Beans, Served with Jalapeño Corn Pudding - $7

Lamb Chili

I'm either slowing developing a taste for lamb or theirs was really good, though the chili itself could've been a bit richer, spicier and and hotter (temperature-wise).

Jalapeño Corn Pudding

The jalapeño corn pudding was moist and yummy, with nice pieces of jalapeño and corn throughout.  I only wish the jalapeños had been a bit hotter!

Menu from 8/2/2011

So far, this seems like one of those food trucks that will always have an interesting menu (at least half of which changes every few days) and consistently delivers deliciousness.  I'm just going to have to give in to the fact that whenever I go to physical therapy on Tuesday afternoons, I'm always going to wind up eating lunch at whichever food truck is in front of the library at the time.  There are worse problems in life.
