Tavern in the Square: Cambridge: Central Square (and multiple locations)

One time circumstances dictated that I eat and drink at one of the Taverns in the Square (or TITS, or as our waitress called it "Tavuhn in the Squayah"). There's nothing wrong with these places, it's just that the beer list is boring (it includes Smirnoff Ice) and the food menu reads like a Chilis menu circa 2007, so there's no foodie asshole fun to be had. They do have a gluten-free menu (including a bottle of Bard's Gluten Free Beer) though, which I find interesting.

I was splitting this meal and didn't really choose what we got:

Cowboy Burger with a turkey burger subbed in: Apple-wood bacon, BBQ sauce and cheddar cheese.   $11.49 + $.99 for subbed in sweet potato fries

The sweet potato fries were perfect, but the ranch dressing was an unfortunate companion at a rating of 3/10 in my book. The turkey burger was not bad at all though.

Tavern in the Square on Urbanspoon

There actually are some tasty and fun things on the menu:

-Pulled Pork Flatbread - Ancho chili pulled pork topped with mango salsa, cilantro, roasted red onions and mozzarella cheese.  $12.49

-SummerSalad - Fresh watermelon and blueberries tossed with arugula, fresh mint, feta cheese, and lemon juice. Wrapped in sliced cucumbers and topped with vanilla yogurt and wonton strips.      $10.29 ($8.49 at lunch)

-The Pilgrim Burger -Sliced white turkey topped with home-style stuffing, American cheese and gravy on toasted French bread with a cranberry chipotle sauce. $11.49 ($7.99 at lunch)

-Crispy fried buttermilk chicken on top of a golden Belgian waffle with mashed potatoes, home-style gravy, whipped butter and maple syrup.   $14.29 (They do chicken and waffles with mashed potatoes? Fuck yeah!)
